What Is SAT? SAT Test Dates 2021?

The SAT, or Scholastic Aptitude Test, is a standardized test administered by the College Board for foreign students interested in studying abroad, especially in the United States.

The SAT was first conducted as a college admissions exam in 1926, after being modified from an Army IQ test. However, it wasn't until 1933 that the test gained traction, after Harvard's president began using it to evaluate scholarship candidates because he felt it was an accurate indicator of intellectual potential. By the 1940s, it had been the compulsory exam for all college applicants and had been applied to over 300,000 individuals around the world, thanks to this perception of the SAT.

Purpose of the SAT:

The SAT is designed to assess a high school student's college readiness and provide colleges with a single point of comparison for all applicants. Standardized exam scores will be evaluated alongside your high school GPA, courses taken in high school, letters of recommendation by professors or coaches, extracurricular experiences, acceptance interviews, and personal essays by college admissions officers. The significance of SAT scores in the college application process varies by grade.

Overall, the better your SAT and/or ACT ratings, the more opportunities you'll have for attending and paying for college.

Eligibility for the SAT Exam in 2021:

The College Board does not have any clear eligibility requirements for the SAT. Those planning to take the SAT exam should meet the following requirements:

Age Restriction

There are no age restrictions. According to studies, students between the ages of 17 and 19 are among the most likely to take the SAT.

The number of SAT exam attempts

The College Board does not impose any limits on how many times a candidate will take the SAT exam. In India, the SAT exam is held five times a year, in the months of March, May, August, October, and December.

SAT composition

The SAT is divided into four parts, with an optional essay. Reading would be the first section, followed by Writing and Language, and then the Math section with no calculator, followed by the Math section with a calculator. The SAT essay would be the last part of the exam if you want to take it.

The majority of SAT questions are multiple choice, but there will be five grid-ins on Math No Calculator and eight on Math Calculator.

How Is the SAT Score Calculated?

On a scale of 400 to 1600, the SAT is graded. On a scale of 200 to 800, you'll get one score for Math and another for Verbal, which covers both Reading and the Writing and Language parts. Adding them all together gives you your overall ranking (but you probably knew that). There are a variety of SAT cross-test scores available, but the 200-800 range is the one that colleges are most concerned with.

You may have learned that the SAT scoring scale ranged from 600 to 2400, but that is incorrect! That is outdated information! It's now 400-1600, much as it was when your parents were growing up. Basically, the SAT has gone back in time.

What Is an Acceptable SAT Score?

So, what constitutes a successful grade? For some students, this may equate to an A+; for others, it may equate to a C- (hey, it's still a passing grade!). SAT scores are the same way: what constitutes a "healthy result" depends entirely on your objectives. The current average SAT score is 1059; for most students, a score above this is excellent.

Best Time for SAT?

The best time to take the SAT for the first time is normally in the winter of your junior year, when you've covered the majority of the content in class but still have time to retake it. However, your testing schedule can vary, particularly if you need SAT scores for another reason or if your school requires you to take it.

Registration for the SAT?

The deadline to register for the SAT is around five weeks before the test date. On the College Board's website, you can register online. In certain conditions, the College Board can request SAT registration by mail.
