What is a Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC)?
Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) Scholarships, also known as Chinese Government Scholarships, are offered by the Chinese Scholarship Council. The Chinese Government launched the Chinese Government Scholarships initiative to promote education, culture, commerce, educational and political exchanges, cooperation, and mutual understanding between China and other countries.
Thousands of students from around the world are awarded this scholarship each year to pursue undergraduate and graduate studies in China's prestigious and research-intensive universities.
In China, there are three types of scholarships: Chinese Government Scholarships, Local Government Scholarships (city or province), and Confucius Institute Scholarships. Furthermore, several Chinese universities have developed their own foreign student scholarship programes.
CSC Scholarships 2021 are now available for Bachelor's, Master's, and doctoral (Ph.D.) degree programmes in a variety of disciplines taught in both English and Chinese at Chinese universities. Every year, over 280 Chinese universities offer CSC Scholarships.
To qualify for a CSC Scholarship, the applicant must complete an online application. In addition, the applicant must request an application through the university's online admissions portal. Following the submission of these online applications on the CSC Scholarship site and the university admission form, both must be submitted to the university for processing.
Financial Benefits of CSC Scholarship
Undergraduate Program: CNY 2500 RMB (Renminbi or Yuan is the Chinese currency; 1 yuan equals 25 PKR or 1/8 USD) Free tuition, free housing, and a monthly stipend
Students in the Master's program receive a monthly stipend of CNY 3000 RMB, as well as free tuition and housing.
Doctoral students receive a monthly stipend of CNY 3500 RMB, as well as free tuition and housing. Married students receive an additional 1000 RMB for housing outside of the university hostel. Their professor can also provide additional research funding for seminars, paper submissions, and RAship stipend.
How to apply for the CSC Scholarship?

You must receive a consent letter (acceptance letter) from your prospective adviser/supervisor before filling out the online application for the CSC scholarship. You must contact your professor outlining the alignment of research and your particular research proposal in order to receive the acceptance letter. Along with the email, you can attach your CV and research proposal.
To apply for a CSC Scholarship at a Chinese university, follow these 15 basic steps:
1)Find Chinese universities that offer scholarships from the Chinese Scholarship Board.
2)University's CSC Scholarship webpage can be found here.
3)Fill out the CSC Scholarship application on the China Scholarship Council website. Application form available online
4)For the CSC Scholarship, choose group B.
5)Fill in the university's agency number after choosing the university's name.
Fill out the CSC Scholarship application and save it as a pdf.
Add all relevant documents to the scholarship application pdf file.
Check to see whether the university needs a separate application.
If an application for admission is required, complete the University form and download it.
Check to see whether the university charges an application fee.
Pay the application fee (if required)

Make separate CSC portal accounts if you wish to apply to more than one University
Find the agency number of Chinese university where you want to study
Insert agency number of your Chinese University in CSC Scholarships online application form
Select the type of the CSC Scholarship award which you want and select ‘category B’
Fill your credentials and desired degree course you want in China

Step 2: How to submit the Scholarship application to the University?
Find out if that Chinese University requires an online application for admission alongside with Scholarship application or not.
If an online admission application is not required by the university then you need to submit Scholarship online application form only and send your documents to the university
If they want you to submit an online application for admission to that particular Chinese University, then apply online first on their website and attach your Scholarship form in online application system of that University
Fill rest of the admission form and CSC scholarship sponsorship form at that particular University site and review your application before submission
Submit your application and make 2 sets of documents and dispatch it to the University address
Documents Required for the Scholarship Application
Please confirm that you will be able to include attested copies of your diploma and transcripts for the Scholarships application submission.
Request that two of your teachers write recommendation letters for you for the CSC Scholarship application.
Acceptance letter (Consent Letter) from a Chinese University professor. When sending emails to professors to request an acceptance letter, a motivation letter or statement of purpose is suggested.
If you have an IELTS certificate or an HSK award note, you can also provide a clear certificate indicating that your last degree was taught in English. It's known as English Professor.
Make an appointment with your doctor for a full medical review for the CSC Scholarship, and then have your doctor sign and stamp the application form.
Write a comprehensive and convincing study plan that explains why you want to pursue your next degree at a Chinese university. If you don't already have one, get one and make sure you have it when you submit your CSC Scholarship application.
If a Chinese university needs an application screening or a fee for the application process, fill out the form and submit it. Its receipt should be printed and attached to the two sets of documents mentioned above.
It is recommended that you use a reputable courier service to deliver your scholarship application documents directly to the Chinese University's address.
International students are sponsored by the Chinese government once a year in all Chinese universities.
Bear in mind that the Chinese Scholarship (CSC) deadline varies between Chinese universities. But that's a rough estimate for the deadline.
If you are awarded the CSC Scholarship, you will obtain admission and Chinese Student VISA documentation at your home address.
